What is HackathonHost.com?

HackathonHost is the control room for hackathons and game jams. One platform takes you from the first sign-up to the final report: public registration, team building, jury scoring, a live event cockpit, a public leaderboard, certificates, and post-event reports — without juggling a pile of spreadsheets, forms, and group chats.

If you've ever organized one of these events, you know the feeling: the idea is fun, but the logistics are not. Registrations live in one form, teams in a spreadsheet, scores in another, the schedule on a whiteboard, and the results in someone's head at 2 a.m. HackathonHost puts all of it in one place, so the day runs itself and you can actually watch the projects.

Why we built it

We didn't start with a product — we started with the problem. After running event after event the same way (and rebuilding the same fragile spreadsheets each time), it became obvious that the tooling should just exist. So we built it: first for our own jams, then hardened it into something any organizer can pick up and run.

Every feature in HackathonHost traces back to a real moment at a real event — a jury member who couldn't score on their phone, a tie nobody caught until the ceremony, a results email that took an hour to assemble by hand. We fixed those, one by one.

The experience behind it

HackathonHost is built on 5+ years of hosting game jams and hackathons — not theory. We've run online, in-person, and hybrid events; tiny community jams and large university programs with real prize money on the line. The most recent: the OYU GameDev Bootcamp 2026, a 64-participant, $16,000 game jam run end-to-end on the platform (there's a full case study on this blog).

That experience is the reason the workflow feels right: the defaults are sane, the live controls match how a demo day actually flows, and the post-event wrap-up covers the things you always forget.

What it does

  • Registration & teams — a public sign-up link with custom questions, a team-building board, and approvals. Set a capacity and it manages itself.
  • Scoring — define your own criteria and sub-criteria; jury members score from any phone. Drafts auto-save, and a live leaderboard ranks teams the moment you reveal it.
  • Run the day — a Live Control cockpit with presentation timers, "now presenting" tracking, theme reveal, and projector screens for the room.
  • Audience engagement — Mentimeter-style live polls and word clouds the room joins with a code or QR.
  • Wrap up — instant results, generated certificates, a detailed report bundle, and post-event surveys.
  • Make it yours — white-label the whole thing with your own logo, name, and accent color. Works on the web and as an iOS app, and the interface is available in English and Russian.

A built-in Run sheet even walks you through the whole event as a Before → During → After checklist, so nothing slips.
